In addition, I am an editor and the editorial secretary of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aup.nl\/nl\/journal\/mens-en-maatschappij\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.aup.nl\/nl\/journal\/mens-en-maatschappij\" target=\"_blank\">Mens &amp; Maatschappij<\/a>. Before joining the NIDI, I worked as a PhD student at the University of Amsterdam (sociology) and a postdoctoral researcher at Radboud University (sociology).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My research interests are in the transition to adulthood, (young) singlehood, intergenerational solidarity, and housing. I study how the young adult life phase is changing, how young people cope with these changes, and the (changing) role of parental support in this life phase. I do this using longitudinal panel data, register data, and advanced quantitative methods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, I received the Veni grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) for my research proposal &#8220;Growing up in an era of uncertainty: young adults\u2019 life-course trajectories and well-being.&#8221; In this project, I examine how combinations in uncertainty in education, work, housing, and relationships accumulate and relate to well-being in young adulthood. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, I received the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knaw.nl\/nieuws\/instituut-gak-knaw-award-voor-lonneke-van-den-berg\">GAK-KNAW award<\/a> for my research proposal called &#8220;De weg naar volwassenheid in de knoop?\u00a0De rol van onzekere arbeidsposities voor de leefsituatie en het welzijn van jongvolwassenen.&#8221; In this project, I study the impact of temporary contracts on young adults&#8217; other life-course transitions and well-being.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am a researcher (assistant professor) at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI).
